Hoosegow
7.5"h x 13"L x 3"w; 2023
"Hoosegow" is the second in a series of smaller pieces I've been working on. It is also another in a long line of "animal as tool" pieces I've created. Horses are of course the ultimate in terms of useful creatures that man has corrupted to his every whim, and remarkably, it remains a pretty decent arrangement, if not the best of times for horses since they were first domesticated. In this piece I imagine an early design for the paddy wagons that collected up drunken partiers in days past. I guess some hybridization between pumpkin and horse would be in order for this to become practical.
